This time last year I had just received confirmation of passing my level 7 executive coaching qualification. This year I’ve got nearly 100 hours of coaching clients under my belt.
As we approach the new year, it’s a great time to pause and reflect on the last twelve months. This provides insights on what has gone well and what we have learned, which can be used in turn for setting goals for the new year.
I wrote down my goals on a memo card in late December last year and carried this in my journal throughout the year. My goals for 2022 were to:
– Coach ten or more clients
– Get a coach mentor
– Develop my business plan
– Set up my website, email, and insta
– Create regular content
– Decide on accreditation route
Hitting these has given me the first foundations to build on with my professional coaching.
What went well?
* Building my time with clients and enhancing my coaching practice, skills, and experience. I have seen my clients grow and change in front of me, a mirror for my own development and confidence. This will be a life’s work for me and honest, kind feedback from clients allows me to focus on where I can strengthen.
* Developing my content – material for the website, insta, and my blogs here – has allowed me to express myself and be creative, sharpen my thoughts and deepen my understanding, and engage in others’ insights and thoughts. Thank you all for reading and supporting my blogs here!
What did I learn?
* Coaching is a supportive, embracing, and collaborative industry. I have truly valued connecting with buddies on similar and different coaching journeys, sharing our experiences and challenges, and with more experienced coaches, who have shared their invaluable guidance and mentorship. Emma, James, Suzanne, Alison, Kieran, Michael, Oliver, Rajesh and Michelle – I am grateful for you!
* Being a coach is absolutely what I want to do with my life. Whilst this isn’t a new revelation, this year has proven to me that coaching is what I love, what I can be paid for, what I am good at, and what the world needs.
So it with these reflections that I take bigger, bolder steps forward as I define my 2023 goals.
“To make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from” ― T.S. Eliot.
