What matters most to you in your life?
Our values underpin our beliefs and thoughts. In turn, our goals need to align to our values to achieve results. Is your ladder leaning against the right wall?

I work with my clients to enable them to:
– Understand the things in their life that matter the most to them
– Build self-awareness and self-acceptance
– Review how far their goals are aligned to their values
– Foster willingness and commitment to change
– Reflect on their values to keep on track

TRY THIS EXERCISE
As a guide: You can do this on your own, or with a partner, a friend, or your team. Go with your gut feel, don’t over think it. Take as short or long a time as you need. You can return to this as often as you like.
1. Take 6 x post it notes.
2. Answer the question ‘what matters most to me in life?’ by writing one word on each post it and numbering them 1-6 for priority.
3. Once you have your 6, drill down into the underlying value for that word. Certain words may mean different things for different people, e.g. ‘family’ might mean ‘love’ or ‘security’.
4. After spending time exploring your values and updating your 6 words, answer the question ‘what post it would I give away?’ and ask this question 6 times so you have a priority list.
5. How has this changed your initial ordering? Remember, you aren’t giving your values away, but re-ordering them.
6. Reflect on your 6 values by asking yourself ‘where am I honouring these values in my life?’ and ‘where am I not honouring them?’.
This will allow you to start to understand your values and how they impact on your life and goals.
It will allow you to assess where you feel at your best, where you feel you make the most difference, where you feel most energised and concentrated.
It will allow you to assess where you are feeling stress or dissatisfied, where you tune out and feel tired and where you need to realign and make some changes.
