“Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth” – Mike Tyson

My training for the virtual London Marathon isn’t going as well as I’d hoped after injuring my ankle at the start of February. I’ve had to adapt my training programme, lightening the load on intensity and mileage, and my race plan for the day, knowing I won’t be in the same condition as previous marathons.

Accepting this has been frustrating. But the one thing that has kept me going was reminding myself of why I’m doing this: I wanted to trust the process of structured training and run a marathon again – that was my goal.

That’s what being adaptable means to me – moving ahead towards your goal accepting things happen and overcoming obstacles with resilience and agility to thrive. It’s about being open to change – reassessing your context, refocusing on your goal and stepping forward with alternative approaches.

Coaching provides a safe and supportive space for people to build the mindset and skills needed to navigate the dynamic environments and challenges of their lives and succeed in what matters most to them.

I support my clients to develop flexibility, resilience, and open-mindedness through:

▶️ Recognising and challenging their limiting beliefs and fixed mindsets
▶️ Developing problem-solving skills to help them navigate new or challenging situations
▶️ Building self-awareness to help regulate their emotions and manage responses effectively
▶️ Setting individual goals, generating options, and creating realistic plans to adapt to changing circumstances
▶️ Enhancing communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate more effectively with the key people in their lives (colleagues, partners, family, and friends)
▶️ Fostering a growth mindset, encouraging their continuous learning, development, and growth
▶️ Providing constructive feedback and encouragement to reinforce their adaptive behaviours
▶️ Exploring and embracing new perspectives, ideas, and opportunities in the context of their lives

Clients leave their sessions feeling more in control and empowered, more confident of achieving their goals, and with more perspective through the experience and learning of navigating change.
